Conformity of Production (COP): The importance of the supply chain behind the product.

Aliant Battery has not only obtained ECE R100 approval for no less than four models in its range of batteries intended for automotive use. But it also received COP (Conformity of Production) certification, a guarantee of compliant and traceable production that is essential for the use of battery systems on vehicles subject to registration.

Conformity of Production (COP) is a verification process required by ECE R100 regulations that ensures that each manufactured product conforms to the approved technical and safety specifications.

In other words: it is not enough to type-approve a prototype, it is also necessary to prove that every battery produced meets those same standards.

Obtaining the COP involves a series of technical and inspection audits conducted by certifying bodies, which evaluate the entire production process.

Main criteria evaluated:

1. Full component traceability

Each critical part (cells, BMS, fuses, wiring, switches) is tracked by lot, origin, and technical specifications.

2. Manufacturing process control

Each step (assembly, wiring, sealing, testing) is documented with clear and verifiable operating instructions.

3. Compliant quality system

Controls on incoming materials, internal audits, nonconformity management, process KPIs.

4. Repeatable tests and trials

Each battery is tested on insulation, voltage, capacity, BMS protections, according to certified procedures, intermediate and End of Line (EOL) tests.

5. Non-compliance management

Procedures for identification, isolation, analysis and corrective action on defective products.

6. Staff training

Operators and technicians trained on procedures, HV safety and regulatory criteria.
