Custom-made LFP battery for marine purpose

Aliant Battery has developed a custom-made LFP battery for a major shipyard, intended for installation on a latest-generation hybrid-powered yacht. The aim of the project was to provide a solution capable of powering both the propulsion system and all on-board services, while ensuring the highest safety standards required in the nautical sector.

Advanced security for marine applications

The battery has been designed and certified according to RINA standards, ensuring compliance with the most stringent nautical regulations. The system integrates preventive safety devices against thermal runaway, with automatic extinguishing mechanisms in case of need. These features make the battery safe for continuous use on board, minimizing the risk of malfunction in critical environments.

Modularity and adaptation to yacht geometries

To ensure optimal installation inside the hull, the battery has been designed with a modular structure consisting of multiple units connected by a central PDU. This modular architecture allows for:

  • Precise adaptation to the internal geometry of the boat.
  • Isolation of individual modules in the event of a fault, maintaining service continuity.
  • Simplified maintenance that can be scaled according to customer needs.

Performance and reliability

Thanks to LFP technology and intelligent module management, the battery provides stable and constant power for hybrid propulsion and onboard services, optimizing the boat’s energy efficiency. The project demonstrates Aliant Battery’s ability to provide highly customized solutions for marine applications, where safety, reliability, and adaptability are paramount.
